Role Summary
The Software Engineer (Data Engineering Focus) will take ownership of designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and cloud-based database solutions. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this role centers on optimizing query performance and managing large datasets using Java, Apache Kafka, and AWS infrastructure.
The ideal candidate is a strong problem-solver who can independently architect technical solutions, present and defend their design decisions to the team, and collaborate on DevOps activities. Familiarity with modern data warehousing (Snowflake) and full-stack tools (Python, TypeScript, Vue.js) is a plus.

Working knowledge of Python.
Experience with TypeScript and Vue.js.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines.
- Optimize query performance, database performance, and scalability.
- Work extensively with large datasets and cloud-based database solutions.
- Develop and maintain solutions using Java and Apache Kafka.
- Write Java in a Spring Boot Backend for APIs.
- Work on Snowflake Setup.
- Work with AWS services and cloud infrastructure.
- Take ownership of technical challenges, independently develop solutions, and drive their implementation.
- Present technical solutions to the team, explain design decisions, and defend proposed approaches.
- Collaborate with team members while demonstrating the ability to work autonomously.
- Perform DevOps-related activities as needed, with support from a centralized DevOps team.
Requirements
- B.Sc/M.Sc in Computer Science & Engineering
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with a primary focus on data engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Java and Apache Kafka.
- proficiency in Java Spring Boot.
- Experience with Snowflake.
- Solid understanding of databases, including query optimization, performance tuning, and scalability.
- Strong background in data engineering, particularly designing and managing data pipelines.
- Experience working with cloud-based database solutions.
- Familiarity with AWS services and cloud infrastructure.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and demonstrate ownership of solutions.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to present and justify technical decisions.
